Record Highs in Denver - Time for a bike ride.

Dugan and I skipped out of work a little early today and went for a 40 mile bike ride around Denver. We spent the first part of the day doing 6 minute intervals (with 3 minutes off in between) with heart rates in the 160's, then we made a bonus lap around the Cherry Creek Reservoir for fun. We talked about racing strategies and practiced our victory moves for the finish line....we'll see how it actually works out.
Per usual, we met a few cyclists during the ride. I met up with a Haul'n ass bike rider named Derek Strong who races Category 2 (2 spots better than us. They also race with the pros) here in Colorado. He had a "Power-Tap" rear hub and I got to talk to him a few minutes about the $800+ investment. The power tap tells you how much "Power" in wattage you can deliver to the rear wheel of the bike. To give you an example for the book "Lance Armstrongs War": When Lance is in his top shape at the tour de france he can produce 500 watts for about an hour....that is like lifting two 5 gallon buckets full of water from the floor to waist height every second for an hour. Can you do that? I definitely can't.....
