Christmas plans to NC foiled by Denver Blizzard of 2006
Denver got 24 inches of fresh powder starting on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the storm came at the wrong time. It was horrible timing for our Christmas vacation to North Carolina. We beat the storm to the airport on Wednesday morning at 5:30am, boarded our plane at ~7:15am and then everything went downhill from there. If you have been watching the national news you probably saw our flight on TV. My wife and I were on american airlines flight 1860. We were on the plane for 8 hours as we got stuck out on the runway and had to await the snow plows to create a path for us back to the terminal.....Not Fun! Anyway, by the time we got back to the terminal and they had canceled our flight, there were no flights available until Christmas day. Arrrggghhh. So we will be spending our Christmas in Colorado, which really sucks since we haven't been back to NC to see the family since last Christmas.
Dugan and his wife are also stuck here in Denver, since their flight to St. Louis was canceled, so I think we are going to head to the mountains to ski our sorrows away in fresh powder. Stay tuned....
