First Skiing Trip of the Year

Dugan, Cori, Jennifer, and I headed up to Breckenridge on Friday to enjoy a weekend of skiing. We stayed at the River Mountain Lodge, which was gold rated, but we got stuck with a less than average room and "spring loaded" beds. We started Friday night at the Breckenridge Brewery and enjoyed some good brews and burgers. We then met up with our friends Josh and his fiance Jill and the Blue River Bistro. The girls enjoyed several martinis and Josh, Dugan, and I worked on emptying the Fat Tire keg. Since Josh and Jill used to live in Breckenridge, we met several of the locals and will hopefully have some connections for future trips.
Needless to say, we spent several hours at the Bistro bar before finally making it back to the hotel room. Saturday morning was a little slow....Dugan and I are usually there to make first tracks on the slopes, but this time vitamins and ibuprofen were necessary before we could crawl out of bed. Turns out, it wasn't such a bad thing. The slopes were super crowded and in desperate need of new snow. They had opened all of the Peak 9 and 10 lifts, and even lift 6 and the new Imperial Express chair.....But it was a day of dodging exposed rocks and stumps. Got a few new gashes in my freshly tuned skis and Dugan got a nice chunk taken out of his Seth Vicious sticks. We spent most of the day playing in the terrain park (trying to keep up with the teenagers) and spending some quality time with the girls.
We went out to eat at MiCasa Mexican Restaurant Saturday night (which was good), and once again slept in on Sunday morning. There wasn't any new snow, so we bagged skiing on Sunday and headed to the Prospector for breakfast (this is a great stop in Breckenridge if you want some good breakfast). We cut out of town after breakfast and headed back to Denver before the traffic got bad, and caught the afternoon showing of DejaVu at Cherry Creek cinemas.....I give it 2 thumbs up.
This was probably the most fun I have had not skiing in the mountains! We definitely made the most of our trip.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Our friends Casey, Cori, Joel, and Anna came over to our house for a Thanksgiving meal. The girls prepared an excellent meal (Crabcakes and bread for appetizers; turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, crescent roles, cranberries, green beans, etc for dinner.) and us men watched football! Of course, it is probably safest to keep the men out of the kitchen. We had some excellent wine and a lot of it.....Just a start to a weekend full of overindulgence. Good Times!
It is too bad none of us could spend Thanksgiving with family, since they all live in different states, but it was great to have some close friends to spend the holiday with.
